Dynamic Simulation of The Ejection Process for Space Debris Based on Inflatable Structure

  • According to the application of space inflatable structure, the inflatable structure was designed to achieve the aim of deorbiting space debris. The dynamic simulations of ejection process for space debris by using cylindrical airbag were analyzed by the platform of Abaqus software. The impacts of collision area thickness, airbag length, airbag pressure and space debris mass on ejection were studied. The results showed that the optimum ejection parameters were 3 m polyimide film airbag lengthing,3 m diameter,3 mm kevlar film collision area thickness,6 kPa airbag pressure.Furthermore, the linear relationship between the thickness of polyimide film and the maximum mass of ejection space debris was obtained. The simulation provided technical reference for the space debris deorbiting by using inflatable structure.
